CBS Minnesota reported a couple days ago… The central Minnesota city of Annandale would get one-fifth of the new money available statewide for broadband Internet build-outs in an earmark that passed the Legislature this week with no time to spare — and vaulted the city past a competitive bidding process that other rural towns must go through. Annandale was passed over for a grant in 2014, but a clause inserted in a budget bill Monday night sets aside $2 million this time. ...

I’ve been dragging my heels with these prehistoric creature posts, but with “Jurassic World” just around the corner, I decided to get off my buns and post about one of my all time favorites: mosasaurs. Shamu’s got NOTHING on this sh*t! Mosasaurs ruled the oceans of the Cretaceous Period of the Mesozoic Era of Earth’s history, biting sharks in half while T-Rex was doing the same with anatosaurs. ...

The wind and snow over the winter had toppled the simple board framework that formed a vertical "body" and perpendicular "arms" reminiscent of an old-fashioned telephone pole.  (See left side of photo.) Mentioning to Dick that I needed to set it upright again to ready it for its summer attire, he apparently tucked the thought away to retrieve later. ...
