Now that the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs are almost over we can all breathe freely and hope for more sportsmanship like play as the quest unfolds. But the dilemma on everyone's mind still seems to be - whats it going to take to reduce the silly goon tactics and overtly aggressive body contact so rampant in the NHL? More fines, increased suspensions, anger management classes what about public service work in Taiwan? Whats your suggestion? Everyone knows the prestige and glory that comes with winning the Cup right? Sure-thing.

Earthfest: And how is this sustainable? This weekend was Iron Range "Earthfest", ostensibly showcasing and encouraging "sustainability". This picture shows the United States' primary problem; its fundamental building structure is the unsustainable use of fossil fuels.It is the problem most Americans cannot understand; the way we live and do everything in the U.S can never be sustained as it is now.

Just the other day I had a young mother visit the library and say, "There are so many picture books! It's pretty overwhelming to know which one my daughter will love." When I probed a little further, I discovered that she wanted to find the one book her daughter would remember reading when she was older. Unfortunately, I can easily say that's probably not something Moms can control. Child and READ Dog KatieThis mother wasn't in the wrong; she made the same mistake as many other young parents who think that every book is a gem waiting to be polished by the love of a parents lap and the gentle sound of a parents voice.
